Objective
Infographic
For this project we had to pick a topic of our choosing that you can get plenty of data for and use Adobe Illustrator to build an Infographic. The Infographic had to incorporate enough information to fully explain the topic, with visuals and text. The size requirements had to be 800 pixels wide, with the length being up to you. I chose 800 pixels in width by 1600 pixels in height. The Infographic is meant to be viewed on screen. For the text, the Infographics can use images and text to explain a topic, but is primarily visual communication. The visuals should drive the Infographic with the text used only to augment the conveyance of information. For the imagery, the file was built in Illustrator and the imagery is 100% illustrative, not photographic. No photographic pixel-based images were allowed and/or used in the design. There were also at least two graphs that were required to be placed into the design as well, relating to the topic of choice
Solution
For the Infographic I wanted to do it on something outdoorsey, so I chose Avalanches because I personally wanted to learn more about them, and I had a good idea with bringing in a mountain from the side, leading your eyes down as you follow the skiiers as they cause an avalanche. I also wanted to show the process of an avalanche, the basic 101 tips. I found lots of images that I used as inspiration for all of the illustration, and it got me thinking pretty creatively with the bottom and how I'd show people rescuing.
